10 tips to reduce clutter and get organized

by joshua becker

i like folks that are real and down-to-earth.

when i read #3 on this list of 10 tips to reduce clutter and get organized from simpleorganizedlife.com, i was hooked.

3. Boxes, boxes, boxes – I am a huge fan of storage in the house. Even if you have tons of crap, having it in boxes makes it look and feel more manageable. However, I don’t pay for any storage containers – I use shoe boxes, shipping boxes, etc. Why not use the free stuff instead of spending money on the plastic versions?

we have a number of boxes, boxes, boxes in our storage room downstairs.  after reading #3, i feel a little bit better about them.

Doesn’t having lots of boxes encourage you to toss things into them instead of making a proper decision and getting rid of what you don’t need in the first place? I’m a fan of having nice boxes to store what you actually need and use, but not of buying lots of indiscriminate storage, because it’s so tempting to fill it!

I completely agree with you!! I especially enjoy having matching see-through glass canisters to store food in, You’ll always know when to stock up (and discourage from over-buying). I tend to buy very expensive coffee, and people always comment, but I like it! now they can’t see what coffee I buy, so I don’t get judged or make people feel conscious. Same goes for the cheap brands too :-)
