This does touch on a subject I don&#039;t often see discussed on minimalist blogs, though: emergency supplies. Some things are worth owning even if you hope/expect to NEVER use them: a fire extinguisher comes to mind. 

On a voluntary simplicity page I can&#039;t find now, I read an advocation of owning useful things, beautiful things and emergency supplies.</description>
