Thank you for encouraging others to find ways to share what they have with those who are less fortunate. Also, thanks for commenting on my blog post about Blog Action Day.
My wife and I are always looking for ways to share with others. I also wrote a post about Blog Action Day on our GrandparentsTLC.com blog.

hey!

How cool is your blog. I love your ideas and actions, and will be coming back to check them out regularly. I make 'to do' lists...and one item that comes up on the list time and time again is 'get ALL junk OUT of room!'. But I'm actually going to finally cross it off in a few weeks time (I finish my uni degree today!).

I reckon you're totally right about minimising and streamlining being a spiritual thing. Some days I just want to own the clothes on my back and be in nature...to be with God without any of my junk getting in the way. sigh...

cheerio!

As soon as I read about today's blog action day, World Vision came to my mind. I am a WV volunteer, child sponsor and my sister has just arrived home from 2 WV trips - to Rwanda and Indonesia.

Between my sister's experiences, and ours (we got a heart-felt letter from the father of one of our sponsored children telling us how our sponsorship has helped their family), I can only say THIS WORKS. There are lots of theories and ideas about what really solves poverty, but to my knowledge, nothing as effective and long-term sustainable than this.

THANKS for your blog - - our ideas about minimizing really do relate to poverty and the world as a whole.

Hello! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks. I decided to go minimalist last spring, after I saw "The Story of Stuff". I really appreciate this blog, particularly the Christian aspect.
Yesterday, I came across a blog called "30 Days of Nothing".
After I had read it, I thought that perhaps the community here might find this interesting. When I checked this site this morning, there was a post on fighting poverty, so I decided that I was supposed to say something.

am unable to make a donation right now unfortunately.

for my part, i turn to sites like freerice, kiva, and goodsearch, as ways to help alleviate poverty online, even if i'm not yet working.

got to this post via your comments on blog action day blogs. :)
