i just noticed that ehow.com has full room-by room listings of “how to decorate in a minimalist style” from living rooms and home office to selecting accessories. i didn’t notice too many pictures which would have been helpful. and i did notice that ratings for most of them were in 3-3.5 star range but i do think the thoughts will be helpful for something as we continue to become minimalist.

I find it interesting that you could actually go out and spend lots of money and waste lots of resources on making over our house into a “minimalist” style, which for me would totally undermine the very principle! but, then, my husband and I are trying to approach life overall with more of a minimalist view, minimalist in the things we own, in the the things we buy, in the impact we have on our time and environment. that kind of stuff.
this is a great blog. so glad we found you through our pastor’s blog, Fibonacci Faith. I decided to start pursuing “minimizing” our house hold stuff because we are a family of four, 2 working parents and 2 young kids, and I was constantly frustrated that I felt like I had to choose between spending precious time with my kids or keeping up with housework. so I decided that instead of spending all my time cleaning up, I would just give away the stuff! so to speak….anyways, great blog!
I found this blog through Zen Habits, and I love it! Alissa, I feel exactly the same way. We are two full-time working parents with two small kids, and right now we’re paying someone to clean our house twice a month so we can spend extra time with our kids. I’m so ready to stop doing that and get rid of all the stuff so we can save time and money. My husband and I are both on board with the minimalist lifestyle, we just have to get started. Thanks for the inspiration!
I too am inspired. My home is traditional yet minimalist and relaxing until i get to my den. Although not overly done it’s not simple. I have family pictures and accessories that have memories. My shelves were done professionally, not simple but tasteful. How do I know where to start with the rest of the room. It’s hard to have perspective when it is your home. Thanks for getting me started, and hopefully some help.
Hi there! Thanks for your post. You have a substantial input in this wrinitg. In this modern age, blogging could really mean income. Most of the time, bloggers rarely concern whether they are being idiomatic or made sense. They are mostly concerned with keywords and revenues. I hope that with the coming of digital age, writers will also be conscious on marking quality work.
