Crazy days we’re living in, aren’t they?
Thank you for being part of the Becoming Minimalist community. I believe, in times like these, it is even more essential to focus on things that matter. Minimalism paves that pathway.
By owning fewer possessions, we reserve time, money, and energy for the things that matter most. So take some time to focus on the things you own and what can be removed (today or in the future).
We’ll get through this—and we’ll be better because of it.
To keep your mind focused on simplicity and intentional living, here is a personally selected list of encouraging articles that have been published recently:
How I am Minimizing My Wardrobe | Recovering Women Wealth by Deanna Broaddus. As I embrace less with my wardrobe I can see the benefits.
Embracing “Involuntary Simplicity” | No Sidebar by Emily McDermott. While I do not want to downplay the economic impact of closed businesses and canceled events and services, let alone the impact on vulnerable populations who may find themselves isolated, I believe there are some important mindset shifts that can help us embrace “involuntary simplicity” as much as possible during this tumultuous time.
Thoughts on Downsizing | Hej Doll by Jessica Doll. Sharing some of my thoughts on downsizing before, during, and after our move to a smaller space.

Just keep in mind that many donation stores (Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc.) are NOT accepting donations until this latest China virus has abated. The virus will live for several days on certain materials, and this is not safe for anyone. So do your cleaning, but please, keep your donations at home for the time being.

Thank you for doing this.
Please don’t include videos in “Weekend Reads” – they’re wonderful, but they are videos to be watched, not articles or books to be read! Thanks!

Hey Tom, thanks for the comment. The video link is clearly marked as such. No need to view it if you prefer the written word.

Joshua, thanks so much for including my article in your weekend reads. You have been such an inspiration to me on my minimalism journey. I appreciate you, No Sidebar, and this community. :)

Crazy times indeed but we are all being forced to embrace a simpler lifestyle at home with family. If we are following the governing orders and directives there is no running around, no social commitments, no large meetings, no sports and no buying except groceries. Certainly goes along with minimalism. I, for one even as an extroverted person, am finding this quiet time a gift.
I hope you & your family and safe and well. Thanks for the feature. :)

I liked the analogy of your video, Joshua. We recently downsized our house and I got rid of many, many things. But I love the lil house… and I gained so much more. Now I am close to my grandchildren—- priceless tradeoff.

An additional pleasure of cleared counters during Shelter at Home: Following advice on how to safely unpack and clean and store groceries, I needed a stretch of sanitized counter space for the “clean” and and a section for the not yet cleaned. I did not have to move anything out of the way because I already had a long stretch of clear counter space.
