Hello Everybody,
Let’s try something different today and have a little bit of fun.
This past weekend, Becoming Minimalist reached a significant milestone I wanted to share with you.
We officially surpassed 100,000 email subscribers!
That’s a pretty impressive accomplishment worthy of celebration. It means more and more people are being introduced to the life-giving benefits of owning less. And it means our community and our movement continue to grow in significant ways.
Asking people to subscribe via email to receive updates from Becoming Minimalist has never been a huge priority for me. But recently, I’ve begun to change my thinking about that. For starters, there are many readers who appreciate the convenience of receiving an email whenever we publish new posts. I want to make sure readers know that is an option if that’s what they prefer.
Additionally, and equally important, I have just created a 10-day “getting started with minimalism” email sequence to people who subscribe. The sequence includes a PDF copy of my best-selling book, Simplify, as well as first steps people can take on their minimalism journey. It serves as a helpful touchpoint for people who discover the blog, find themselves interested in minimalism, and are ready to start owning less and living more.
If you would like to join the ever-growing email list to receive the free book and email sequence, click here.
For those who have already joined, all 100,000 of you, thank you for being a part of this encouraging community and providing opportunity for this celebratory post.
I’d like to offer a special thank you to everyone who reads Becoming Minimalist. Every month, we welcome over one million unique readers and our Facebook community has now grown to 800,000. These numbers are a credit to each of you who have so generously shared this blog and its articles with friends and family.
Thank you, thank you for supporting Becoming Minimalist and helping to share the inspiration!
To celebrate, I’m giving away 7 book bundles specifically to this community.

On a personal note, I am blown away by the stories that have been left in these comments. I have read as many as possible.
There are stories from readers who have been following this blog from the very beginning and stories of people who just found it last week. There are stories of people finding us through Facebook, through guest posts, through mentions in the media, through conversations with friends, through Netflix, through Google, and countless people who couldn’t remember exactly how they found it. It has been incredibly encouraging to me to read these stories from all over the world.
Thanks for being part of the conversation.
I’m just starting on my minimalist journey after being overwhelmed by “stuff.” I love reading your blog and your FB postings. Inspirational, and I think it will be life-changing!
I am from Elizabethtown, KY. I don’t remember how I found this site, but it was probably about 6 months ago. I need major decluttering of my house.
Hello from Central Indiana!
I was tired of organizing… it seemed pointless. So I started to look for ways to downsize responsibly, and found the More of Less at the library. It was a priceless find and started a Christ filled journey. Seeking out all the social media information you share has also been a wonderful asset. Thank you for sharing your journey to encourage others.
Hi there, I’m from Auckland, New Zealand. I read The More of Less and from there found out about this website / facebook page. I love your work!
I’m from Quebec, Canada. I don’t remember which article was the first one that I read but I found you through The Minimalist’s documentary on Netflix.
I found you through a friend’s post on FB. I’ve gotten rid of SO MUCH and there is still SO MUCH in my home! I seriously think I would have gone BONKERS by now if I hadn’t reduced. Still working to do more of LESS.
Hello ! I have 4 of your books on my Notebook . I knew I wanted to “get rid of stuff”, so I looked up books on minimal living. I was tired of having to move items to open a window or sit in a chair. Thank you so much for all the tips and information on living “free”. I am still cleaning and my friends say “I thought you just cleaned out a bunch of stuff” . I tell them I did and if feels so good , I am getting rid of some more !
I love this site. Life changing.
Brenda from Harriman, Tennessee. Feb 8, 2017 was my beginning. My sister shared a post “3 steps to End Closet Chaos” I didn’t actually work on my closet until June. I wish would have had a hidden camera filming me taking the same clothes out, looking at them and then putting them back…over and over again. Two hours later, I finally had 3 bags! Yay!
Just thank you. You present minimalism in a palatable, achievable way.
I’m new to your site, I now feel like I’m suffocating in all my “stuff” I’ve just started my declutter but it’s a long road ahead.
I have been working at it for a little more than 2 years now, and can’t believe how much better I feel when I assess my life!
New to minimalism, trying to soak up all I can. Love your website for all of the family related information.
I love your blog. I have decluttered so much that my kids sent me a message: Stop. Your children want you to stop. I replied: NOooooo.
I’m in Virginia and first found you on Facebook through a random search. Your advice has helped me begin my journey. Thank you!
Congratulations on your new accomplishment of 100K in email subscribers! Impressive but no surprising at all. As a fellow blogger, I look so forward to your weekly post to sit down and enjoy the articles you select for us each week. It’s time to grab a cup of tea and take some me time. I agree that having an email in my box is a gentle reminder that something I look forward to is ready for me. The pressure is off for me to remember to look for you each week. Thank you so much. You system works!-Laurel
I read the Magic Art of Tidying Up and while it inspired me, the motivation fizzled about as quick as it started. It wasn’t until I watched the “Minimalism” documentary that it struck the right chord with me and I have been working hard on minimizing (even with a 4 year old!) The articles and memes that are posted on the FB page inspire and push me to continue reaching my goal towards minimalism in ALL aspects of my life!
Hello I’m from France. I remembre the first Becoming Minimalist post I’ve read : it was about clothes
Hi! I’m from Oliver, BC, Canada, one of the most beautiful places in the world. We have the distinct honour of being the Wine Capital of Canada. I learned about minimalism when a friend suggested I watch the Minimalism movie on Netflix. From there, I looked you up on Facebook and have been hooked ever since. I read everything on your blog voraciously, immediately, staying up through the night to learn all I could about the first thing that had ever really made sense to me. In my 68 years of life, I have been living in chaos, suffering all the things that come with that. You offered me a lifeline, and I grasped it firmly and have been hanging on for dear life. I cannot thank you enough, Joshua, for what you have done for me.
Congratulations on all your successes and milestones. You, and all the people and friends who support you, have opened up a way of living out of the chaos, to learn that less is more. Thank you.
Hi! I started reading this blog after I bought The more of less a few months ago. Love this blog!
From Montreal!
Hi! I started reading this blog after I bought The more of less a few months ago. Love this blog!
My name is Kaitlin and I live in sunny San Diego! I first learned about Joshua Becker and Becoming Minimalist through the documentary “Minimalism” in which I did some research and discovered how many awesome minimalist blogs there are out there!
My New Years Resolution this year was ‘simplify’. I meant to apply it to being less busy & stressed. I had always thought of minimalism as cold and detached. I discovered becoming minimalist via a friend on FB at just the right moment. I recently lost my job & have spent my new found free time getting my house in order. It’s quite a project! But so fulfilling on many levels. Thanks for the inspiration & for helping me realize that minimalism is about making space for what you love. It’s actually quite warm & fuzzy! :)
I am from the North part of The Netherlands in Europe, and besides the fact that i loved them all, i remember especially your posts about minimizing toys for kids. (I citated them a lot At my professional Facebookpagina. I am a specialist at childdevelopment ). Second best are the ones about simpel routines around minimalism and decluttering. Thanks for sharing your life, experiences and ideas around minimalism.
I came to your site through a post on YNAB. I am following your suggestions in the downloadable book…thanks so much. I am retired in South Carolina.
Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin here! I first stumbled upon Becoming Minimalist in 2013 while searching for a way to simplify the holiday season to feel more satisfied with it — counterintuitive, it seems, but not so. “The Helpful Guide to Simple Christmas” was the first post I read, and I’m so glad I did.
