Minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things we most value and the removal of anything that distracts us from it. It requires a conscious decision because it is a countercultural lifestyle that stands against the culture of overconsumption that surrounds us.
The world we live in is not friendly to the pursuit of minimalism. Its tendencies and relentless advertising campaigns call us to acquire more, better, faster, and newer. The journey of finding simplicity requires consistent inspiration.
For that reason, I hope you will make an effort this weekend to find a quiet moment with a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy some of these hand-picked articles to encourage more simplicity in your life.

Joshua, thanks so very much for your encouragement and insight on living with less! I have read and watched your stuff for several years along with a handful of others who promote and live this life with less! I am married and have 3 kids (upper teens/young adult age range). I LOVE moving through life with less but I’m learning that the entire family does not love this same lifestyle. Trying to give some space and be respectful and kind in hopes that the rest of the family will join me one fine day. I must admit it has been hard to see some of their overfull spaces but for now I keep our kitchen, bathrooms, living room, laundry room, pantry very minimalist. It’s tough to be that one fish in the family, always swimming against the flow!

I have been working on several strategies to deal with sales and they have been successful 95% of the time.
1. Pause before carting. I stop, take a deep breath, and ask myself if I need this item.
2. Check what I have. I look to see if I already have the item or something that will work just as well.
3. Imagine caring for it. Do I have time to take care of or maintain it? Do I even have the room for it?
4. Unsubscribe. Unless I regularly use this company’s products/services and their deals are truly worth it, I unsubscribe from emails/texts, especially around the holidays.
