For over 17 years, I have been writing about minimalism on this blog.
During that time, I’ve written over 1,700 articles—sharing stories, principles, and practical tips. I’ve written books that have helped hundreds of thousands of people take their first steps toward owning less and living more. I’ve recorded 400 videos for YouTube. And the Uncluttered Course has helped over 90,000 people declutter their homes, room by room.
But over the years, I have kept hearing the same comment:
“I start strong, but I struggle to keep minimalism going over time. How can I keep this going?”
The answer to this question matters. You don’t just want to read about minimalism over and over—you want to live it. You don’t want a one-time decluttering project—you want a lifetime of intentional choices.
You want minimalism to become your way of life, not just something you think about when your house gets messy. You want to spend your days focused on things that matter.
And to accomplish that, we all need more than just education. Life change can be difficult. And if we’re going to build habits that transition minimalism from an idea into a way of life, we need the support of like-minded people.
So for the first time in my nearly two-decade-long journey, I’m trying something completely new.
I’m offering a community where we work together, month by month, to bring minimalism into every area of your life—your home, finances, schedule, digital life, habits, and relationships (just to name a few). The principles of minimalism are powerful and life-changing—especially with physical possessions—but their impact reaches far beyond that.
This brand-new, private community is called The Minimalist Life, and it’s designed for people who are ready to move beyond consuming content about minimalism and start living it fully.
Here are just some of the things included and why I am so excited about this:
- Monthly themes and weekly action items that guide you step-by-step through your minimalism journey in a clear, thought-out way.
- Personal accountability through weekly check-ins, progress prompts, and highlighted personal stories so you can take consistent action and make sustainable changes.
- An encouraging, supportive community of like-minded people on the same journey to cheer you on and share their experiences.
- Live coaching sessions—three times/month—where you can ask me questions, get unstuck, and learn more about how to apply what you learn.
- Practical tools and specific resources created by me that make minimalism manageable and applicable, not overwhelming.
- An easy-to-use app to keep all of the membership content, videos, resources, and conversations quickly accessible whenever you want it.
This isn’t just another online course you complete and move on from. It’s about lasting, legitimate personal development and growth. It’s ongoing support that helps you build minimalism into your daily rhythm, one intentional choice at a time. And in an online world that is increasingly populated by AI-generated content, this community is about human interaction—with me and others.
If you’ve been reading my content and thinking, “I want this life, but I need help making it stick,” this community is for you. Or, if you’ve been applying minimalism to your physical possessions and are ready to apply the principles elsewhere, this community is for you.
The doors to The Minimalist Life open today. And you can join, starting now, at my founding member rate: $18/month or $180/year (save two months). This special pricing is only available until June 30th.

I can’t wait to meet you and walk alongside you as you create the calm, focused, intentional life you’ve been dreaming about.
With you on the journey,
Joshua
I’ve tried to several times to join for the annual fee and the website button ‘greys’ out and won’t work to continue. Help. Your offer ends in 3 hrs in Oz. Thanks 🙏
What times are the live coaching sessions?
Hi, I’ve been reading Simplify Magazine for a few years and have really learned to live a minimalist life, to a point I have only the clothes I need, no list of things I want to buy/read/watch, a minimal number of apps on my phone and where there are tasks that need managing they’re on a list and prioritised. Sometimes however I find the silence overwhelming, where I can sit down at the end of the day, with all my household jobs done, and think “what now?”, there is actually nothing I feel the need to fill my time with and no tasks that need to be done right now, a complete state of emptiness, but then what? I’d like to know a little more about what is included in the new app please and I’m completely sold on the minimalist lifestyle but am mindful of any things I add into my life, even those things that support mindfulness and minimalism. Thanks.
Is this an app just for phones and tablets or does it also run on desktop computers?
It works on desktop computers too.
I guess it’s like downloading a diet/exercise app. So you think constantly about food and exercise. When in reality, you need to STOP thinking about food all the time. It’s a catch 22. You need movement in your day, but you are constantly checking to see if you have 10,000 steps. I’m the same with minimalism. I’ve done some, but constantly thinking about all the stuff I have left to do. Constantly checking myself at Walmart when I get groceries and telling myself no… to the other stuff. Staying home to avoid eating out.
I’m at a weird crossroads with minimalism. In fact I came over to “talk” to Celeste the decluttering AI about this, but it seems she’s been… decluttered? 😆 But I’ve been thinking about how minimalism has become, for lack of a better word, an idol for me. I still spend so much time thinking about my things, organizing them, curating them, reading about minimalism, watching videos about it. I also spend a fair amount of time regretting some of the things I have decluttered. The whole reason I got into minimalism was to learn how to live with less and to simplify my life, so I could focus on more important things like faith and family. But it hasn’t turned out that way. I began to simplify in 2013, and got really into minimalism in 2018. My home is less cluttered than it was 10 years ago, but I can’t say my mind or spirit is less cluttered. I’m turning 51 this year, and a new empty nester. So I’m really thinking about the rest of my life, time I’ve already wasted, and fear that I’ll never be able to change and have the meaningful life that I want.
I would think, with the significant season of life change happening right now, this would be a perfect time to intentionally begin volunteering more with your faith and in the community. Be intentional about how you craft your schedule and calendar. If you haven’t already, action in the right direction toward meaningful activity will help steer your spirit to a less cluttered space.
That’s a helpful answer, thank you very much! You are the second person to suggest volunteering at my church recently, and I think it will be the perfect solution. I have been filling my empty time with more and more thrift shopping, which is also feeding my focus on “stuff.” Thank you again! :)

Hey Kristie – I am also an empty nester and a decluttering and life coach who serves mostly empty nesters. I am also one of the Becker Certified Organizers. You can look me up on his Becker Pros site above. If you want to talk through what’s going on in this season, I offer free calls to anyone who asks. This is what I call the stuff behind the stuff. You’ve got this!
