Becoming Minimalist

Own less. Live more. Finding minimalism in a world of consumerism.

martin buxbaum on success

Written by joshua becker · 6 Comments

you can use most any measure
when you’re speaking of success.
you can measure it in fancy home,
expensive car or dress.
but the measure of your real success
is one you cannot spend.
it’s the way your son describes you
when he’s talking to a friend.

If I could I would change just ONE word of this poem: “son” to “child”

    Success is subjective.

When you measure, you will always have too little of one and not enough of the other. Equality doesn’t really exist.

    Success is over-rated…

I don’t look at my life in terms of success.

Success entails comparing yourself to others. I’m not competing.

I don’t need the approval of others to be comfortable with who I am.

I like this poem. I also like the site revamp. I read your posts generally through Google Reader and thus it’s nice to see what changes you’ve made since I’ve last hit becoming minimalist.
