Own less. Live more. Finding minimalism in a world of consumerism.

Overcoming Overconsumption

Written by joshua becker · 4 Comments

Overcoming consumerism is an essential step in living a simplified life.

Even more, it is an important step in living a focused, intentional life—one that is lived to our greatest potential.

So how we can accomplish that in our lives? How do we overcome overconsumption? I put together this short video with a few ideas:

In fact, I have recorded an entire series of videos about minimalism. To watch more, subscribe to Becoming Minimalist on YouTube.

    Hello,
    French frog is there.
Thank you for this inspiring video.

Indeed, if you want to become a minimalist person, you have to remove the problem at the root.
Otherwise things keep coming home despite you.
More exit of possessions than entry of possessions is necessary.

The consumerism culture of our society is so present… if you want to have a chance to have a better life, you need to be able to free yourself from that.

    Bonjour de France :-)

Aside from spending for food and gas, I have the same twenty dollar bill in my wallet for two weeks now. Haven’t spent it. Don’t need anything. #livingsimple

Agree, it is a slower process for some. Just because a friend or family member says “go buy this” or this is now in style, doesn’t mean you have to go out and get same thing. Ads come in the mail (local stores) constantly.
