I’m excited to release today a video trailer that I created to provide a little sneak peek into my new book, Things That Matter: Overcoming Distraction to Pursue a More Meaningful Life.
My goal was to create a preview video that would give everyone a snapshot into what the book is about, but also to create a video that is inspiring to watch—even without the book.
I hope I was able to accomplish that. You can watch it here:
Things That Matter: Overcoming Distraction to Pursue a More Meaningful Life will be available everywhere on April 19, 2022.
You can find even more detailed information about the book right here.
Or, click here to download and read the first chapter right now.
Also, I’m happy to answer any questions you have about the book, just leave them here in the comment section. Or, just stop in to say hello :)
Very educational and visionary ideas
I preorder my book! I can’t wait
I read the first 23 pages and I cannot wait to read the rest! Minimalism has changed my life over the past decade and your blog/videos are so inspiring. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do Joshua.
So happy to hear you enjoyed the first chapter Taryn. I’m really looking forward to April!
Have to disagree with you on the fact that we all have the same amount of time. A popular life coach tried to tell us the same thing. Everyone’s circumstances are different, and we can not always be doing something creative or altruistic. Some of us have very free time and it is not because we are scrolling social media, watching Netflix, or something of the sort. We are working to take care of our family, keeping a home, driving our children to where they need to be. We are cooking, doing laundry, and just trying to hold it all together. I think that you are over simplifying this time issue. ( I am a minimalist too.)
Congratulations, Joshua! Since I came across your work in 2021, I started tracking my minimalism progress daily. Thank you. After reading your first chapter this morning, I added “Intention of the Day” on the top of each page in my journal. Thank you for guiding us so very generously to live a meaningful life.
Complete lack of empathy and compassion for others. Victim blames and is unwilling to put oneself in another’s shoes.
Hello. Just wanted to say that I really appreciate your emails and updates. I’m struggling, and everything feels overwhelming, but bit by bit I’m building myself up and helping to show up as a more authentic me. You’re helping. So, thankyou.
You are welcome Dotty. Thank you for the opportunity to provide a little bit of inspiration in your life. You can do it!
Hi Josh,
I started reading your blog a couple of years ago and have enjoyed many of your posts and now your video clips on YouTube.
I recently “brokeup” with social media in an effort to live a more intentional life and “find myself” again as I move towards life as an empty nester…
As a minimalist, how do you balance your time blogging/doing video? Just curious.
Thank you. Maureen – single mom, soon to be an empty nester, in Moncton, New Brunswick ?
Hey Maureen, well there’s a whole chapter in the book on this topic so I don’t think there are short answers to this question. As I write about in Things That Matter, I find it helpful to consider the difference between creating and consuming online. Creating positive content is usually a plus for the world, simply consuming (scrolling social media, for example) isn’t always a good use of time or talent or opportunity.
So glad it’s an audible book. Pre ordered it as soon as it was available. Looking forward to hours of listening! Thanks
Hi Joshua,
I’ve been following you for years – you’ve been a huge influence in my minimizing journey. Thank you!
I look forward to your new book – congrats!
Thanks Peggy. Following for years and not sick of me yet? That’s impressive :)
Hello and Thank You for doing what you do!
Downloading the 1st chapter to check it out.
Great! Hope you enjoy it.
Hello!
The first chapter was wonderful! Looking forward to reading the rest of the book. Thank you for sharing your gift of writing, of putting thoughts and feelings into words, with the rest of the world!
Oh Donna, I’m so glad you liked it. Thank you for the encouraging words. I appreciate them very much.
Can’t wait to ‘hear’ this. I’ve just pre-ordered it on Audible!
I recorded the audio book just last week. I’m glad it’ll be released on the same day as the e-book and physical version.
I’m so glad it will be your voice reading the book!
