There are many wonderful people online pursuing and promoting simplicity. When you find some time this weekend with a nice cup of coffee or tea, may you find inspiration in their words as they encourage others to find more life by owning fewer possessions:

The Future of Advertising | Mnmlist by Leo Babauta. One of the biggest reasons people buy so much, and are so discontent with their lives, is advertising.

Joshua,
I just love the weekend reads! Thank you for posting these and introducing me to a host of other minimalists who I would never have found otherwise. I truly appreciate your fantastic website.

Thanks for continuing to post the “Weekend Reads,” Joshua. I always find some value out of the articles you list in this feature.

I’ll definitely be adding these to my list! Love the recommendations.
I just finished up Shiny Objects: Why We Spend Money We Don’t Have in Search of Happiness We Can’t Buy. (http://www.amazon.com/Shiny-Objects-Spend-Search-Happiness/dp/0062093606)
It dives deep into the economics of spending, and tracks happiness vs spending over the decades. Worth checking out if you’re a person who’d like concrete affirmation on your viewpoints in minimalism.

I found it ironic that two clicks away from this article, I was faced with advertising trying to sell me a book that promises to make me happy and successful.

One of the easiest ways to get out of the grip of advertising is to get out of the city, move out to the land and start respecting it. If that isn’t an option, get rid of the television, that we all have the ability to do!

As always, Joshua, thanks for sharing and caring.
I loved the article on busy-ness. :)
