Fill your life with stories to tell, not stuff to show.
The simplicity/minimalism movement is a beautiful community. And I enjoy any opportunity to promote writing that encourages people to live more by owning less.
So fix yourself a nice warm cup of coffee or tea. Find a quiet moment this weekend. And enjoy some encouraging words to inspire more simplicity in your life today.
Americans don’t like to buy stuff anymore – and that’s a problem | Yahoo Finance by Rick Newman. The shift in attitudes among young people is most striking.
Fear Is Why We Have Too Much Stuff | Zen Habits by Leo Babauta. Fear is what causes us to buy things we don’t really need. Fear keeps us holding onto stuff we don’t need.
Collect Memories, Not Stuff | No Sidebar by Kerry Ogden. When it comes to ridding life of extraneous things, these three questions are instrumental.

I ordered the book, I have the receipt from Amazon, but when I put it in I’m just taken back to the same page. I’ve tried 4 times. I don’t know what I’m doing incorrectly, and it is a bit stressful, honestly. I ordered on January 6 receipt #: D0177088620464620 any assistance is appreciated.

I have ordered your book from amazon and can’t get through on your link to register for your free course. It keeps saying that maintenance is occuring and to check back in 15 minutes. No such luck. I hope you will consider this as my registration so that I can meet your May 2 midnight deadline, just in case the 15 minutes doesn’t clear up the maintenance problem.
Thanks,
Mary

Great list! Book ordered. Uncluttered started as I have been thinking about and working towards minimalism for a couple years now.
I am already the “weird” parent in what I do not buy for my kids – stuff and activities. I was raised much the same way and it worked then!
Interesting read on fear: I don’t want my safety, security, love and value based on stuff, it is grounded much more solidly on God, anyway. I need to keep this in my head!
And Amazon. Yes, that can be a problem because there is no waiting until the next day or even a short drive to the store.
Thanks for a great collection of reading. (And I cannot wait for your book … which I got off amazon. Ha.)

The article on fear had a link to a George Carlin skit on “stuff”. One of my favorites and still makes me laugh until my stomach hurts! Thanks!
