Over the past several years, I have been creating inspirational images for the Becoming Minimalist Facebook page. They have circulated amazingly well.
The Becoming Minimalist page has grown from 25K fans in February, 2013 to over 900K today. I’m very grateful for the response and the opportunity it has provided to expand the influence of this blog and the message of minimalism.
While we have created hundreds of pictures over the past two years, the following 10 images consistently rank as readers’ favorites. I wanted to share them with you. And I hope they inspire more simplicity in your life.
I invite you to share these pictures freely on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, or your office cubicle wall. May the inspiration for minimalism continue to grow both in and through our lives.

Thank you so much for these beautiful images and inspiring quotes–and for the freedom to share them. I wouldn’t have found them on Facebook, since deleting my FB account last summer was my first step in de-cluttering my time. (It was a *huge* distraction for me. Quotes 2, 3, and 4 all relate to me letting go of FB, actually.) So, I thank you for including these in your blog post.

The images that you created and shared on Facebook is one of the main reason I liked you on Facebook. These images are one of the main (and only thing besides my blog) that I share on my newsfeed. I have had several comments from all my friends that they love the pictures with the appropriate quotes. They are inspired and motivated by it. They also find it a good reminder to be positive and connected to nature. Thank you for spending the time on creating these beautiful images.

I’ve been following/sharing your blog for over a year now, even though my house doesn’t necessarily show it (yet!)
We learned last week that we may have to make a sudden move in early June…and be ready for a trip mid-June. I started to panic about packing everything up, paying for a huge moving van, renting storage units, etc.
And then it hit me: We can leave everything here. We can let it all* go. We can walk away. We can start over. We can save our money until we know more and then invest it in our new phase of life…rather than frantically spending it now to preserve the old.
We’ll have to wait ’til June to see if I’m brave enough. But the thought alone fills me with such a sense of freedom. I’ve spent my life terrified that we’d have to move because it’s so much work/expense.
I never realized that a move doesn’t have to be scary — it can be the start of a new adventure. I guess “traveling light” isn’t so much amount of stuff I have externally…it starts with my beliefs and attitudes.
So thank you — regardless of what happens in June, your perspectives and encouragement are a big reason why I’m feeling so calm now.
(*Except for the books, of course!)

You’ve given me a new line of thought, Cherie. I love your idea of leaving it all behind. Wow! I don’t have to move but I would like to and now I wonder if perhaps I can. The opposite to you though –
I will start by decluttering, aim for minimalist and take only what
I need. At this stage I find it difficult to go away for a couple of weeks without taking too much. Good luck to both of us!

My friends just moved overseas. They tossed or gave a way of a lot of what they owned — even set up a pile on the curb with a “FREE” sign. Most of what they ended up taking was clothing.
I noticed that it seemed much more freeing than bothersome to get rid of things they didn’t really need, even if they enjoyed them for a time.
I got home and envied them. I still have a lot I don’t need. I am working on pretending I am moving. It is so hard to purge when you aren’t paying to move it yet.

Just wanted to thank you for the time you take to share with the world (us.) I’ve only just recently discovered your blog and have shared it on FB and pinned several articles; a few of my friends have then discovered you this month too! After a lifetime of feeling emotions tied to “things” I am now letting go easier than ever. Just had to reach out and let you know that your efforts are making a difference in the lives of others who feel gratitude and appreciation for your mentoring.

Thank you, minimalism is freeing. There is no arguing that.
Grateful,

These are great Joshua. I had no idea Becoming Minimalist was so big on Facebook (I’m not on Facebook). My very favourite one of your photos here (and my favourite quote) is the seventh.
Brittany says
I totally agree, the 7th one is great!
