Over the past several years, I have been creating inspirational images for the Becoming Minimalist Facebook page. They have circulated amazingly well.
The Becoming Minimalist page has grown from 25K fans in February, 2013 to over 900K today. I’m very grateful for the response and the opportunity it has provided to expand the influence of this blog and the message of minimalism.
While we have created hundreds of pictures over the past two years, the following 10 images consistently rank as readers’ favorites. I wanted to share them with you. And I hope they inspire more simplicity in your life.
I invite you to share these pictures freely on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, or your office cubicle wall. May the inspiration for minimalism continue to grow both in and through our lives.

EPIPHANY…
Admittedly- I’m a neat freak and wired such that disarray stresses me. I used to be a control freak, but have learned I ultimately control only two things…my CHOICES and RESPONSES.
If you read my posts- you know I’ve been intrigued with “Becoming Minimalist” posts. My perspective on ‘things’ have changed….and my thinking altered to question REAL ‘need’.
I’m not a materialist, and don’t find my worth/identity in possessions- however If I’m honest I have to admit I’ve rationalized certain things that I thought were ‘needs’ to be prepared for whatever occurs…..it’s frankly the fear of not having what is needed to provide/care for my family.
WHY DO I – ‘need’ 12 pair of shoes for every occasion? A closet full of clothes I never wear? A storage room with items used every 2-3 years and sometimes longer?
WHY CAN’T live with (7) sets of clothes, and (6) place settings of dishes and a few pots & pans to cook with?
WHY does EVERY cabinet have to be full of things most Americans possess but are hardly used enough to justify keeping? (wok, food processor, pop corn popper, meat grinder, bread machine, toaster oven, blender, etc. etc.)
Imagine having to only care for and store a week’s worth of clothes, and dishes, and basic essentials?
I live in the richest country on planet Earth… A place of freedom. However, I’ve come to realize FREEDOM IS A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE.
My ILLUSION of control in having ‘things’ has been controlling & consuming my life, rendering me to practical servitude to inanimate objects.
So…… I’m declaring my own ‘independence day’ from stuff.
Owning less means less cleaning, less debt, less burden, less anxiety, and less stress each and every day. – Becoming Minimalist.

I’ve been following your blog for a year or so now, but it was only when I started reading Clutter free with kids recently that it hit me – simply removing a few things, then allowing your life to fill up with other stuff (even donated or secondhand or homemade) is getting nowhere. I’m still getting rid of 7 little things a day, but now I’m consciously, but slowly, trying to live daily with clear spaces, less of the stuff I don’t absolutely need for shelter or basic comfort, and enjoy the moments instead.

Love all of these! To the confusion and horror of friends and relations, we’ve decided to keep our 1200 sq. ft. house and make it work. If the Ingalls of Little House could do it, we can too!

Thanks Joshua;
I set images like this as wall paper on my laptop for daily inspiration. I will put some of these in rotation.
I am a Field Engineer and I travel to local sites daily to troubleshoot and configure telecommunications equipment. I use my laptop to do this and often get comments about the minimalist wall paper images.
Sometimes I have to allow other Engineers remote access to my laptop to be able to see what I see as I am working on equipment and some comment also. The will now be seeing some of the images you created. Thanks ;-)
